My, how things have changed. I attended a Veteran’s Day observance at the Lewiston Armory. My training as a youngster and 25 years in the U.S. Navy taught me to stand at attention when the National Ensign is passing. That is a sign of respect.

Well, it wasn’t at the Armory.

None of the Congressional representatives or state or local folks stood when about six flags passed in review. I can’t speak for Mayor Robert Macdonald because he was one of those passing in review.

Sad when our own representatives don’t respect the flag.
