1940 – 2015
LEWISTON — Walter W. Law, 75, of Auburn passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, at Marshwood Center in Lewiston, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on July 30, 1940, in New York City, a son of the late Barton and Julia (Satterthwaite) Law. Walter served three years in the U.S. Navy and went on to complete his bachelor’s degree in education. He taught elementary school within the Monmouth School Department for 25 years. While at Monmouth, he coached the chess team, which won many state championships.
Walter was an active member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, where he served for many years as a deacon and church elder. He was passionate about cycling, photography and learning new things. Walter enjoyed playing chess, listening to folk music and going to the movies. He was a lover of all animals and loved to watch his two cats, Leo and Boots, race around the house.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Law of Auburn; a son, Edward Law of Boston, Mass., and a daughter, Megan Shaw and her husband, Tom, of Framingham, Mass.
