AUBURN — The Compassionate Friends Maine Chapter will host candle lighting ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 13, at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave.
The event is part of a worldwide ceremony to honor loved ones who have died. At 7 p.m. in every time zone throughout the world, a candle is lit for 24 hours in remembrance. The event is always on the second weekend in December.
The night typically consists of poems or letters read by family members and comforting music. After the program, there are refreshments and time to share stories with each other. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m., with the official lighting at 7 p.m. Those attending may bring a photo of their child to place on the memory table. Though not necessary, attendees may bring something to share for refreshments.
