1937 – 2015

LEWISTON — Henry A. Paradie Jr., 77, of Lisbon Falls, died on Monday, Nov. 30, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1937, to Henry A. and Hazel P. (Merrow) Paradie Sr. He was married for 12 years to Nancy E. (Wills) Paradie. Then for the last 40 years he was with his partner, Mary Kalinowski, who passed away three years ago.

Henry was a lifetime member of the Slovak Club. His favorite baseball team was the Red Sox. Henry enjoyed working and tinkering on small engines, lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc. People came to him from all around to have him fix their machines.

As a teen, he started out working as a logger and then later worked at the Worumbo Mill and US Gypsum in Lisbon Falls. He then went into construction working many years for Conrad Goddard Construction Company and then for Carl Houston doing construction and plowing.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Crawford of Madison, Beverly and her husband, Kevon Dickey, of Madison, and Brenda Hazelton of Norridgewock; a brother, Robert Paradie and his companion, Aurie Cox, of Lisbon Falls; and two sisters, Rita and her husband, Elmer Nichols, of Minot, and Shirley Hersey and her companion, Norman Enman, of Turner; 12 grandchildren, Cayla Marshall of Lisbon Falls,, Angel Rowe of Madison, Edward Quimby Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Midlothian, Va., Tony Paradie of Newport News, Va., Bobby Paradie of Portland, Texas, Holly Aube of Anson, Jennifer Hall and her husband, Jason, of Madison, Mia Hoverland of Newport News, Va., Nancy Mullin of Westbrook, Cindy Ladd and husband, Johnathan, of Embden, Kayla Webber and husband, Jeremy, of Fairfield, and Charlie Viles of Norridgewock; and 23 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Henry was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Beverly Paradie and Dorothy Bachelder; a brother, Verne Paradie Sr.; and a daughter and his son-in-law, Bonnie and John Mullin.
