BETHEL — The Bethel Historical Society will hold a book launch from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, for local author and wilderness aficionado Dean Bennett’s new book, “Ghost Buck: One Man’s Family and Their Hunting Traditions.”
Randall Bennett, executive director of the Bethel Historical Society, said the event will be held in the Dr. Moses Mason House.
The book uses camp journals, family photographs and anecdotes from Bennett’s family to tell about the environmental and cultural changes affecting hunting and the landscape since the author’s boyhood in Western Maine.
“This is not a book about how to hunt, but rather a paean to the traditions of a family and a nature-centric lifestyle that will ring true to hunters and nonhunters alike,” Bennett said.
