Windham 44, Lewiston 41

LEWISTON — Junior guard Mya Mannette hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Windham to a 44-41 victory over Lewiston in Class AA girls’ basketball on Friday evening.

Mannette finished with a team-high 15 points for the Eagles (3-0), while senior guard Sadie Nelson contributed 14. Windham trailed 24-21 at the half.

Sophomore forward Victoria Harris gathered a team-leading 15 points for the Blue Devils (1-2).

Fryeburg 42, Leavitt 38

TURNER — Senior guard Julia Quinn drained 18 points to pace Fryeburg to a 42-38 triumph over Leavitt in Class A girls’ basketball on Friday evening.

Sophomore forward Rebecca Fogg led the Hornets (2-1) with 14 points in the evenly matched contest. Sage Boivin and McKenna Gerchman contributed six points each to aid the Raiders (2-0).

Gray-New Gloucester 43, Sacopee Valley 17

GRAY — Senior forward Ashley Jordan tossed in a game-high 11 points to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 43-17 victory over Sacopee Valley in Class B girls’ basketball Friday evening.

The Patriots (3-0) pulled away in the third quarter with a 15-4 run. Skye Conley pitched in seven points and nine rebounds for Gray-New Gloucester.

Sophomore forward Haiden Sawyer collected one three-point field goals and three from the free throw line to lead the Hawks (1-2).

Deering 61, Edward Little 47

PORTLAND — Deering handed Edward Little its first loss of the season, 61-47, in AA North girls’ basketball Friday.

Amanda Brett led the Rams (2-1) with 19 points, while Tasia Titherington had 17. Delaney Haines added 13. EL’s Emily Jacques scored a game-high 23, while Karli Stubbs notched nine.

After building a 14-10 lead in the first quarter, Deering opened a 25-18 lead by halftime. The Rams extended the lead to 47-37 after three.

The two squads combined for 16 3’s. Jacques had three of the seven treys for EL (2-1).

St. Dom’s 32, Lisbon 28

AUBURN — St. Dom’s pulled away in the final minute to edge Lisbon in a hard-fought MVC girls’ basketball game Friday.

Allie Veinote led the Saints (2-2) with eight points, while Abby Castonguay and Rileigh Stebbins each had seven. Lisbon (1-3) got six points each from Bree Sautter, Kaylin Le and Kipri Steele.

Lisbon tied the game 26-26 in the closing minutes on an Ali Sult rebound. Stebbins broke the tie with a free throw with 1:27 left. St. Dom’s padded the lead with two Chloe Dwinell free throws in the final minute.

Poland 50, Maranacook 31

POLAND — Nathalie Theriault scored 17 points to lead Poland to a 50-31 win over Maranacook in Class B girls’ basketball Friday.

The Knights also got eight points from Victoria Tibbetts. Lauren Clough led Maranacook with 10 points.

Poland had a 9-7 lead after the first quarter but pulled away with an 18-7 surge in the second. The Knights finished with 21 steals, including 10 in the second quarter.

Oxford Hills 62, Portland 46

PORTLAND — Erin Morton scored 24 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 62-46 win over Portland in Class AA North basketball Friday.

The Vikings also got 16 points from Tianna Sugars and seven each from Jadah Adams and Maighread Laliberte.

Cierra Burnham put up 19 points for Portland.

Rangeley 52, North Haven 19

RANGELEY — Blayke Morin scored 21 points to lead Rangeley past North Haven, 52-19, in Class D girls’ basketball.

Morin dominated the post with 10 field goals. Maddison Egan finished the game for the Lakers (2-1) with 13 points.

The Hawks (0-4) got 12 points from Jasmine Brown and seven from Adrianna Ames.

Boys’ basketball

Hampden 48, Mt. Blue 30

FARMINGTON — Senior point guard Nick Gilpin and senior forward Brendan McIntyre rattled off 15 points each as Hampden hammered out a 48-30 victory over Mt. Blue in Class A boys’ basketball on Friday evening.

The Broncos (3-0) opened up the first quarter with an 11-4 run and closed the half with a 10-point lead. Senior shooting guard Devon Hoyt scored a team-leading 14 points for the Cougars (0-3).

Gray-New Gloucester 60, Sacopee Valley 34

SOUTH HIRAM — Gray-New Gloucester drained nine 3-pointers en route to a 60-34 Class B boys’ basketball victory over Sacopee Valley.

Kyle Keenan had a game-high 21 points for the Patriots, including nine points behind the arc. Zack Haskell added 20 points, helped by four 3-pointers. Brady Dension delivered seven points for Sacopee Valley.

Winthrop 75, Oak Hill 40

WALES — Junior Jacob Hickey amassed an impressive 23 points as Winthrop nearly doubled up Oak Hill with a 75-40 victory in MVC boys’ basketball on Friday evening.

The Ramblers (4-0) overpowered Oak Hill in all but the third quarter, when the Raiders managed a 15-12 run. Anthony Owens contributed 14 points for Winthrop.

The Raiders (1-3) missed many layup opportunities in the early going. Senior guard Jonah Martin scored a team-leading 13 points for Oak Hill.

Spruce Mountain 70, Freeport 38

JAY — Andrew and Austin Darling netted 18 points each as Spruce Mountain soared to a 70-38 victory over Freeport in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

Mason Shink recorded four field goals, including three from 3-point range to contribute 11 points for Spruce Mountain.

Senior Elijah Fox led the Falcons with 10 points.

Rangeley 90, North Haven 24

RANGELEY — The flood gates opened up as Rangeley routed North Haven, 90-24, in Class D boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Lakers (1-2) took a 22-1 lead in the first quarter with smothering pressure. Sophomore forward Kyle Larochelle tabulated 21 points, while junior guard Carl Trafton chipped in 15.

Freshman forward Michael Stone scored a team-leading 12 points for the Hawks (0-4).

Windham 67, Lewiston 60

WINDHAM — Sophomore guard Mike Gilman posted an impressive 28 points as Windham dispatched Lewiston 67-60 in Class AA boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Eagles (1-2) took a 10-point lead at the half. Sophomore guard Nicholas Curtis contributed 15 points for Windham.

The Blue Devils (0-3) played a bit more evenly in the second half. Senior guard Salat Hassan assembled a team-leading 20 points for Lewiston.
