LEWISTON — Lewiston School Committee, regular meeting, 6:45 p.m., Dingley Building. Recognition of departing School Committee members, vote on approving a general contractor for Farwell expansion, update on substitutes and staffing vacancies.

LEWISTON — City Council workshop and meeting in the City Council chambers on the bottom floor of Lewiston City Hall. Workshop begins at 6 p.m. and the regular meeting follows at 7 p.m.

AUBURN — Auburn School Committee, first meeting of new members, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, Auburn Hall, on agenda, vote on Todd Sampson to replace Jim Horn as assistant principal at Edward Little High School, Horn will be aspirations specialist in January; also first reading of medical marijuana in schools.

THURSDAY, Dec. 17

AUBURN — Hanukkah concert, 6 p.m., Auburn Public Library. Music and song led by Temple Shalom Synagogue Rabbi Sruli Dresdner and his wife, Lisa, family program. Sruli and Lisa are international Jewish performers and have been featured on PBS-TV, National Public Radio, and have headlined Jewish Festivals from Poland to Jerusalem, Toronto to Texas.

SATURDAY, Dec. 19

LEWISTON — Somali Bantu Community of Lewiston-Auburn 10th year anniversary celebration, 6-9 p.m., Longley Elementary School gymnasium. African food buffet, African music and dance. Speakers include Rilwan Osman, Muhidin Libah, Jama Mohamed, Sahal Ibrahim, Elizabeth Eames and Catherine Bestemen. All welcome.

LEWISTON — Annual Gingerbread Day at Lewiston Public Library, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Handcrafted snowflakes, do-it-yourself candy canes, tiny gingerbread houses and gingerbread people to decorate. Ages 0-12 and families welcome.
