1916 – 2015
SHARON, N.H. — Albert Lester Stevens, 99, of Sharon, N.H., died at his home on Sunday, Dec. 13, after a period of failing health.
Albert was born on May 27, 1916, in Sharon, N.H., the son of Albert and Mabel (Savage) Stevens. Albert moved to the Peterborough and Jaffrey, N.H., area in 1938 and arrived just after the major hurricane. After helping with repairs and cleanup from the hurricane, he went to work for Bean Simonds Box in Jaffrey, where he worked for the next 17 years.
Albert then began a maintenance position at Macdowell Colony and he would retire from there 22 years later.
Albert loved hunting and fishing. He was a hunting guide in Maine for many years.
Albert is survived by his daughters, Alberta True of Hampton, N.H., and Jane Huston of Sharon, N.H.; his son, Dennis Stevens of Jay; his five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Pearl (Young) Stevens in 2004; and his son, Lt. Cmdr. Wayne Stevens, USN, in 1977.
