1934 – 2015
AUBURN — Alma G. Palmer, 81, of Minot, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Auburn on Tuesday, Dec.15.
She was born in Auburn on June 18, 1934, to Stanley and Evelyn (Brown) Goodwin. She was the youngest of four children. She attended grade school in the Hackett Mills area and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart, Aubrey “Bob” Palmer Jr. on June 28, 1953. Together, they raised three children, Pennie, Brenda and Ralph. Alma lived in the Minot Corner area most of her life where she worked for the Town of Minot as the town clerk, treasurer and tax collector. She retired from her position in 1991.
Alma was a Cub Scout leader, quilter and a collector of many things. She enjoyed spending time with her family at their family camp on Bailey’s Island and Salem. She enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas, bowling, playing cards and games and communicating with family and friends on Facebook.
She is survived by her older siblings, Roger Goodwin and Jean Thompson; and her children, Pennie Cottrell and Ralph Palmer. She has five grandchildren, Thomas, Amelia, Stanley, Belinda and Lloyd; and five great-grandchildren, Owen, Autumn, Aiden, Gracie and Silas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bob, of 49 years; her older brother, Charles; and her daughter, Brenda.
