MONDAY, Dec. 21

AUBURN — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on the second floor of Auburn Hall. The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. and will largely be an orientation for new councilors. Topics include a discussion of City Council meeting structure, the makeup of city committees and the schedule for reviewing the 2016-17 fiscal year budget. The regular meeting follows at 7 p.m. and topics include approving a liquor license and a special amusement permit for Lost Valley ski area, and the city taking over Oak Hill Cemetery.

TUESDAY, Dec. 22

LEWISTON — City Council workshop at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on the bottom floor of City Hall. Councilors will discuss development along Lewiston’s Maine Turnpike Exit 80 interchange and creating a Tax Increment Finance district. 

WEDNESDAY, Dec. 23

LEWISTON-AUBURN — No school today, Christmas vacation begins for Lewiston-Auburn schools.

AUBURN — Free family movie, “The Polar Express,” Auburn Public Library, 10 a.m. to noon. Parents must stay with children.

LEWISTON — Teens Mad Craft Mania, 2 p.m., Lewiston Public Library, teen department has boxes of craft supplies to make ornaments, picture frames, pom-pom creatures and more.

LEWISTON — Special orientation workshop for city councilors-elect at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on the bottom floor of City Hall. Councilors elected at the November polls will meet to discuss committee assignments and rules governing meetings.

THURSDAY, Dec. 24

Lewiston and Auburn city offices close at noon. They will reopen Monday, Dec. 28.

The Lewiston and Auburn public libraries close at 1 p.m. and will reopen at 9 a.m Monday, Dec. 28.
