LEWISTON — The January program of the Central Maine Human Resource Association will take place Jan. 19 and feature the association’s annual employment law update.

The program takes place from 7:45 to 10 a.m. at the Ramada Inn. The topics include what’s new for Maine employers, Affordable Care Act deadlines, fixing I-9 mistakes, additional leave after Family and Medical Leave Act leave ends and a compliance checklist on harassment training, background checks and website accessibility. The program is a bit longer than usual to allow for more content.

Presenters will include Peter Lowe, Michael Malloy and Kenleigh Nicolette from Brann & Isaacson. Cost of the program is included with association membership and is $25 for nonmembers. Cost includes a full breakfast.

Membership to the association is open to all for-profit, nonprofit, public and private organizations. Meetings are regularly attended by human resources managers, benefits administrators, health, wellness and safety managers, training and development professionals, supervisors, small-business owners and other individuals interested in human resource issues.

Online registration is preferred and available at www.cmhra.shrm.org/events. Questions about the program should be directed to Rebecca Webber at Skelton, Taintor & Abbott at [email protected]. Questions about membership should be directed to Cindy Letourneau or Lori McRae at [email protected].
