1934 – 2016
AUBURN — Lorraine C. Roy, 81, of Auburn and formerly of 15 Fairlawn Ave., Lewiston, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 1, at the Clover Living Center in Auburn, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 24, 1934, the daughter of Philippe and Emelia Therrien Pratt. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, Class of ’53. On April 23, 1960, she married Arthur R. Roy. He passed away on Feb. 12, 2000.
Prior to her retirement, Lorraine worked for many years in the lunch programs of Holy Family School and Lewiston High School. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish and was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She also enjoyed watching golf and traveling to warmer climates with her husband. In more recent years, she especially enjoyed the musical performances of Jon Whitmore at Montello Heights and at Clover Manor. Her favorite song “Always” was frequently performed specially for her.
Survivors include three sons, Normand and wife, Diane, of Lewiston, Raymond and wife, Lyse, of Lewiston, and Michael and wife, Kathy, of Auburn; a sister, Marie Ange and husband, Donald Roy, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Roy, Jessica and husband, Nicholas Adams, Colby Roy, Derrick Roy and wife, Kristin, Taylor Roy, Ryan Roy, and Jeremy Roy; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Molly Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Gerald, Roland, Roger and Bertrand Pratt; and four sisters, Theresa Pratt, Annette Hamann, Rita Galipeau and Jeannine Ayotte.
The family would like to thank Clover Manor and the staff of Dublin Place and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for their outstanding care of Lorraine over the past year.
