HEBRON — Dennis L. Barker, 52, of Hebron passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at his home following a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 16, 1963, the son of Bradley and Judith Barker of Greene. At the age of 9, he and his family moved to Bethel where Dennis graduated from Telstar Regional High School in 1981, then furthered his education at Maine Maritime Academy, graduating in 1985.

He worked as a lubrication engineer for Exxon Mobil several years in New York, then became a global senior project engineer manager for GL&V Company in New Hampshire. His passion for learning more led him into owning his own business of White Mountain Tree Service as a licensed arborist, along with owning and operating an apple orchard with his wife, Jan, Hemingway Orchards. His latest employment was with Rock Tenn Missisquoi Mill in Vermont as a senior plant engineer.

Dennis was a member of the Evening Star Masonic Lodge in Buckfield and the Shriners. He had a great passion for outdoors, photography of moose, fly fishing, boating, Kubota tractors, tractor shows, auctions and Stihl chain saws.

He is survived by soulmate and wife, Jan, of Hebron; his daughter, Desneige and her fiancé, Michael, and grandson, Oliver of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; his mother, Judith Barker of Bethel; his brother, Donald and wife, Dawn, of Kingston, N.H.; his sister, Deborah of South Paris; and his brother, Daniel of Auburn; seven nieces, Darcy, Lauren, Destiny, Rachel, Danielle, Emily and Bethany.

He was predeceased by his father, Bradley Barker. Great friends, Elmer and Buster Whiting were considered family to Dennis. His “Little Daisy May” was his prize shih tzu, along with his three 6-year-old pet piggies, Louise, Elizabeth and Lorraine. My Dennis L. Barker had a “heart of gold.”
