PARIS — Police and fire crews closed a section of Paris Hill Road early Tuesday night after a water main break caused damage to the roadway.

At about 6 p.m., crews went out to Paris Hill Road, in the area between Hooper Ledge Road and Old Route 26, and found that a pipe had burst beneath the street.

A section of the road was closed and traffic was detoured around the site as Public Works officials prepared to make repairs.

Work was expected to continue late into the night. It was unknown how long the road would be closed.
