FARMINGTON — Franklin County is expected to complete its move of IMC, a computer-aided dispatch and record-keeping software program for emergency responders, from Somerset County to its own server, and go live with it on Feb. 22 or Feb. 23.

Franklin County has been using the system for several years. When it went with the software program for the Sheriff’s Office and Regional Communications Center in 2011, the database couldn’t be housed in Franklin County. Instead, it was based in Somerset County.

A Somerset County technology team built computer infrastructure that included several servers, and has shared its services and expertise with Franklin County. The county had been paying Somerset County more than $70,000 a year for IT specialists and maintenance of the IMC program, Franklin County Clerk Julie Magoon said in April 2015.

The contract between the counties expired in December. 

Franklin County commissioners voted to enter into an agreement Monday with Somerset County and its IT Director Kevin Madore for Somerset to provide 10 free hours per month of IMC support service to Franklin County from Jan. 1 to June 30. The latter county will pay for travel expenses at the federal mileage rate and $75 per hour for any hours that exceed the 10 provided free per month.

Somerset County is hosting the program for free until the applications have been migrated, according to a time line.

Franklin County expects to save money in the future by having the program based in Franklin County and having its own IT administrator. Desjardins was hired last April.
