1919 – 2016
LEWISTON — Lucienne D. Madore, 96, of Oak Park apartments and formerly of Webster Street in Lewiston, died on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 3, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with family at her side.
She was born in Auburn on Dec. 4, 1919, one of six children born to Alphonse and Yvonne (Jodoin) Lecomte. Lucienne was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On May 22, 1943, she married Leo Madore, who predeceased her in August 1992.
At age 15, she went to work in local shoe manufacturing and worked many years in local shoe shops, until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Church and among her favorite enjoyments were quilting, ceramics, and playing beano, bingo and cards. Lucienne also enjoyed monthly get-togethers with her family to dine out and some traveling with local seniors’ groups for several years, early on in her retirement years. She was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
She leaves behind her daughter, Connie Barstow and husband, Harvey, of Auburn; her two sons, Daniel Madore and wife, Vicki, of Turner and Marc Madore and wife, Jenifer, also of Turner; three grandchildren, Kimberly Finnerty and husband, Michael, Dr. Samuel Madore and wife, Kayla, and Noel Madore; her great-granddaughter, Tyme Finnerty; a brother, Normand Lecomte and wife, Beatrice, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, two sisters and two brothers.
