DALLAS PLANTATION – A Maine Warden Service official said a Wilton man died Saturday while cross-country skiing on the Rangeley Lakes Trail Center trail system in Dallas Plantation.
Jonathan Fortin, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent medical problem, according to a news release from Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald.
Donna Irish called 911 stating that her boyfriend needed medical attention. Wardens responded, along with Rangeley Fire Rescue Department first responders and NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel. Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, the release states.
Wiles Funeral Home was called to transport the body and the Medical Examiner’s Office ordered an autopsy.
Personnel from Saddleback Mountain and Rangeley Lakes Trail Center, and skiers assisted in locating the victim.
