TURNER — Six people were injured and both drivers were cited early Wednesday evening after a pair of cars collided on Plains Road.

Police said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, but three people from each car were taken to a Lewiston hospital for evaluation.

The crash occurred at about 5:15 p.m., according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department, when a car driven by Carrene Littlefield, 38, of Lewiston, fishtailed out of control and crossed the centerline.

Police said Littlefield’s Dodge Caliber then collided with a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Joshua Stone, 20, of Livermore Falls, which had been heading in the opposite direction.

Rescue workers had to extricate one passenger from Littlefield’s mangled car, police said.

Three ambulances from Turner Rescue responded, along with another from Buckfield, to transport the victims.

The victims were still being evaluated later on Wednesday at Central Maine Medical Center, police said. An Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputy said injuries ranged from a possible broken ankle to complaints of neck and head pain.

Police said both Littlefield and Stone were driving with suspended licenses when they crashed. Each was summonsed to appear in court.

The crash remained under investigation Wednesday night. Plains Road runs off Route 117 between Route 4 and Pleasant Pond.
