1934 – 2016

AUBURN—Rita F. Letourneau, 82, of McArthur Ave. in Lewiston, died Monday morning, Jan. 18, at The Hospice House with her family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 1, 1934, one of six children born to Joseph R. and Armande (Caron) Poulin. Rita was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On April 11, 1953, she married Raymond G. Letourneau at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, and together they settled in Lewiston to raise their family. Rita worked many years in the banking industry, first for several years at Northeast Bank and later for a number of years at Peoples Bank until her retirement.

Upon her retirement, she had spent the last several years as a processor in the Visa Card Department. As a lady of strong faith, Rita was not only a lifelong member of Holy Family Church, but along with her husband, Ray, she was also a very active and involved parishioner for many, many years. Together, they were always helping to organize, participating in or attending church events. Rita was an active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Family Church, and she enjoyed entertaining family or friends in her home, cooking, doing various crafts and decorating. But she especially enjoyed those special family times and get-togethers throughout the year. She was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.

Rita leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Ray Letourneau of Lewiston; two daughters, Sue Letourneau of Rollinsford, N.H., and Michelle McCrea and husband, Jeff, of Weymouth, Mass.; a son, Steve Letourneau of Lewiston; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Collet and husband, Gerard, of Utah and Anita Long and husband, Lew, of Lewiston; two brothers, Gerard Poulin and wife, Pauline, of Lewiston, and Normand Poulin and wife, Joan, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

Rita was predeceased by a son, Gary Letourneau; and a sister, Lorette Poulin.
