BRIDGTON — The public is invited to join Loon Echo Land Trust and the Portland Water District for a snowshoe hike from Five Fields Farm to the summit of Bald Pate Mountain on Saturday, Jan. 23. Hikers will meet at the farm stand at 9 a.m.
Participants will learn about land conservation in the Sebago Lake watershed and its impact on greater Portland residents.
The event is being held in conjunction with the Downeast Sled Dog Club’s Mushers Bowl Weekend at the farm.
The hike and snowshoe rentals are free; however there is a $5 fee to enter the Mushers Bowl.
If the Mushers Bowl is postponed, the hike will go on. It will last about three hours in moderate to strenuous terrain.
Hiker should wear warm clothing, sturdy hiking shoes or boots, and carry water and plenty of snacks.
The hike will be postponed in the event of a major snowstorm. Those planning on attending should check the Facebook page and website for updates.
