1926 – 2016

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Edward T. Evans Sr., 89, died in Fort Myers, Fla., on Sunday, Jan. 17, due to pneumonia.

He was the son of Horace B. Evans and Irene M. Fahey.

Edward was born in Lewiston and married Hazel Morris (deceased) and raised their children in Auburn. He lived in the Fort Myers, Fla., area for the past few years with Gudelia Delury (deceased).

Ed served in the U.S. Navy after high school. Upon his return from the war, he graduated from Bliss Business College. He worked in sales and service positions providing parts to auto repair businesses at R.I. Mitchell and later to tractor owners at Hammond Equipment, both in the Auburn area.

Ed had the ability to engage anyone in his presence. Uniquely, he was able to relate to people in a positive way, uplifting their spirits.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon McEwen of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sons, Bruce Evans of Currituck, N.C., and Edward Evans Jr. of Celebration, Fla.; and their spouses respectively, Ken McEwen, Linda Evans and Noreen Evans. Additionally, he is survived by three granddaughters, Meika Qua of Waterville, Kirsten Simmons of South Boston, Mass., and Courtney Evans of Portland.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Dostie.
