FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 directors voted 9-3 Tuesday to indefinitely expel a Mt. Blue Campus student for distributing marijuana brownies on school property, Superintendent Tom Ward said Wednesday.

Administrators will develop a re-entry plan. When the student completes the plan, Ward will determine if it was successfully done and recommend to directors whether the student should return to school.

Directors favoring the expulsion were Ken Charles, Nancy Porter, Tami Labul, all of Farmington; Richard Hargreaves of New Vineyard; Nancy Crosby of Weld; Helen Wilkey of Vienna; Keith Swett of Wilton; Jennifer Pooler of New Sharon; and Chairwoman Jennifer Zweig Hebert of Starks.

Directors opposed were Betsey Hyde of Temple, and Iris Silverstein and Ryan Morgan, both of Farmington, Ward said.

Ross Clair of Chesterville, Mark Prentiss of Industry and Angela LeClair of Wilton were absent. Cherianne Harrison of Wilton arrived just after the vote.
