SALEM — Mt. Abram High School has announced this year’s Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen is Bailey DeBiase, daughter of John and Andrea DeBiase of Carrabassett Valley.

The DAR Good Citizen Program is sponsored by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and locally by the Colonial Daughters Chapter in Farmington.

DeBiase exemplifies the qualities of a DAR Good Citizen, which are: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. She also has had an active high school career, which includes academic excellence while participating in seasonal sports and high school organizations as well as volunteering and participating in community activities.

Throughout her years at Mt. Abram High School, DeBiase has been a member of the Student Council, serving as secretary her senior year. She is also an active member for Girls Book Club and the National Honor Society. As a junior, she attended Dirigo Girls State at Husson University, learning about all aspects of national and state government.

DeBiase’s artistic talents led her to be selected to attend Haystack Mountain School of Crafts: Student Weekend 2015, where she participated in artistic seminars that were in her interests.

DeBiase has been a team member for the Lady Roadrunners soccer, softball and ski teams. She was chosen as a varsity soccer captain during her junior and senior years, an excellent leader who always puts her teammates above herself.

She has no shortage of community service hours. She has volunteered at Special Olympics, has coached numerous youths through the Western Maine Youth Soccer Program and organized countless food and toy drives.

Her true passion is art, and she hopes to continue her education in art therapy. She hopes to someday become a registered art therapist, where she can combine her love of art with helping others overcome their struggles.
