The Sun Journal is hosting a lunchtime live blog at noon on www.sunjournal.com with the Lewiston-Auburn Charter Commission and its consultants from CGR Consulting. The topic will be the effort to combine Lewiston and Auburn, and what the consultants learned from a meeting with city groups and staffers last week.

LEWISTON — Lunchtime presentation and discussion titled, “Power, Trash and Bates Mill 5: Environmental Studies Students’ Community-Engaged Research,” noon to 1 p.m., Bates College in the Commons 221/222 at 136 Central Ave. Community invited.

LEWISTON — Spaghetti supper for community members and parents of Lewiston public school students at 5:30 p.m. at The Green Ladle, Lewiston Regional Technical Center, 156 East Ave. It will be followed by discussions on school goals and proposed early-release Wednesdays.

LEWISTON — Finance Committee meeting at 5:15 p.m. in the Administrator’s Conference Room on the bottom floor of City Hall. 

AUBURN — City Council workshop at 5:30 p.m., in the City Council Chamber on the second floor of Auburn Hall. Topics include downtown revitalization, housing codes and a new form based code zoning paradigm.

TUESDAY, Feb. 9

AUBURN — Neighborhood conversations, Auburn Middle School, 6 p.m., for residents to share concerns about the city and schools with elected officials.

LEWISTON — City Council workshop meeting, 6 p.m., in the City Council Chamber on the bottom floor of City Hall. Topics include sidewalk and street improvements to Bartlett Street, and pay-as-you-throw trash collections.

WEDNESDAY, Feb. 10

AUBURN — “Her Heart” healthy luncheon, Hilton Garden Inn Riverwatch, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Dr. Dervilla McCann and Dr. Nicholette Erickson talk about “Cancer Treatment Options and Cardiovascular Disease: Prevention and Minimizing the Risks for Women.” Cost $25, to benefit American Heart Association. Sponsored by Maine Women’s Network, Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute.

AUBURN — Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission meeting at 3:30 p.m., in the offices of Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, 125 Manley Road, Auburn.

THURSDAY, Feb. 11

LEWISTON — Diversity educator Eddie Moore Jr., one of the country’s top motivational speakers, presents, “America is Changing: Are You Ready?” at 7 p.m., Lewiston Public Library. Sponsored by Bates College and Lewiston Public Library. Moore is director of The Privilege Institute, co-editor of journals, and gives diversity workshops across the country.
