1965 – 2016

DURHAM — April D. Hunnewell, 50, of Durham passed away Friday, Feb. 5, at her home following a long illness she had been battling.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1965, in Lewiston, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Hamilton) Rock.

She grew up in the Gray area, where she attended local schools. While in high school, April sang in the choir.

She married Patrick Hunnewell on Sept. 29, 1984, and they started a family together. She worked on the family farm for over 30 years, tending the land and helping with the animals. She had worked at a few other jobs, but her love and passion for farming and gardening made being on the farm her favorite. She had even attended some horticulture vocational programs in Portland to better her knowledge of her passion.

While her three children were in school in Durham, she was greatly involved in the Parents Club. April loved flowers. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting, cooking and doing arts and crafts.

April is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Patrick Hunnewell, of Durham; her three children; Sarah Hunnewell of Gorham, and Charles and Douglas Hunnewell, both of Durham. She also leaves behind two brothers, Harry and Scott Rock of Florida; as well as her Uncle Bobby and his wife, Liz, of South Paris; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her mother; a daughter, Tiffany; her father-in-law, Franklin Hunnewell; and several aunts and uncles.
