FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public Library and the Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties, along with the Beloit Poetry Journal, are hosting a poetry contest.

The public is invited to submit now. The deadline for submissions is midnight, March 8. Each entrant is allowed to submit up to three poems, with each poem less than 60 lines.

There are three age categories: 16 years and younger, 17 to 25 years of age, 26 years and older.

Poems may be submitted to the Farmington Public Library. Entrants should include full name, contact information and age category on the back of each poem.

Winners will be announced on March 31.

There are three prizes for each category: first prize is $50, second prize is $25 and third prize is a $20 gift certificate to the Literacy Volunteers book sale.

The public is welcome to a public reading of the winning poems at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at at the Farmington Public Library.
