1943 – 2016

AUBURN — Donna Mae Greenleaf, 72, of Livermore Falls died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 13, and was reunited the day before Valentine’s Day with her beloved late husband, L. Stephen Greenleaf. She was lovingly cared for at the Hospice House in Auburn.

Donna was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Lewiston, a daughter of Leo and Pauline (Rose) Therrien. She was always grateful for the love bestowed on her by her maternal grandparents, following the too-soon passing of her dear mother. She often recalled taking the train from Chisholm to Canton, where Bertha and Winfield Rose lived. She credited them, always, for their loving guidance in raising her.

She attended St. Rose School and was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. Donna married L. Stephen Greenleaf on April 15, 1966. He died on Feb. 19, 2011.

For many years, she was a self-employed beautician and managed Donna’s Beauty Salon in her Livermore Falls home, which she retired from in 2009.

She and her husband enjoyed crafting for 25 years, and attended shows throughout the state with their own booth.

She was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed helping people with alterations, recently completing a bridesmaid dress for a granddaughter.

Donna and her husband were Red Sox fans and enjoyed watching games together and with her family; they especially enjoyed Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo’s commentary. She and her husband were devoted grandparents and did not miss any sporting events of roller hockey, golf, baseball and basketball, of their grandson, Joshua Tainter, beginning in grade school and following him through his high school career.

She is loved by daughter, Leslie Tainter of Livermore Falls; grandson, Joshua Tainter and his wife, Brittany, of Livermore Falls; a sister, whom she raised as a daughter, Penny Farnum, and her husband, Webster, of Jay; and their children, Wade and Kayla; two sisters: Patricia “Patty” Mitchell and her husband, Kent, of Jay, and Sandy Benedetto, of Lewiston; and a brother, Richard Therrien of Jay. She is also survived by three special “daughters,” Lisa Holt and her husband, Mark, and their daughter, Mikala; Tammy Ferland and her husband, Roger, and Krista White and her husband, Bill, and their children, Chandler, Elizabeth and Kyla, all of Livermore; also a “son,” Ryan Ridley; a “granddaughter,” Karly Wilkins, and a “grandson,” Stephen Souther. Donna felt the blessings of special friends, Pam Brown of Jay, and Linda Chretien, Joy Lake, Loretta Maxwell and Bonnie Castonguay, all of Livermore Falls.

She was predeceased by her husband, L. Stephen Greenleaf; son-in-law, Scott Tainter; and a “grandson,” Jeremy Keene.

Condolences and tributes may be shared on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com, where her memorial video will be able to be viewed closer to the date of her memorial graveside service.
