MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Dr. Joseph J. Rando, 87, passed away Friday, Feb. 12.

Joseph was born on Jan. 3, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Thomas Rando and Rose Depietro Rando.

Dr. Rando was a graduate of St. John’s University and Georgetown University School of Medicine. He served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.

He and his family lived in Lewiston/Auburn from 1961 to 1984, where he practiced medicine at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Katharine Rando; daughter, Katherine R. Lever (Roy); sons, Thomas A. Rando and wife, Donna, William C. Rando, and Joseph J. Rando Jr. and wife, Carolyn; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Dominick Rando.
