Historic tour CD to be shown
LIVERMORE — The Livermore/Livermore Falls Historical Society will show the CD of a tour of the 1793 Deacon Livermore House at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23. The historic CD, originally on video tape, will be shown at the North Livermore Baptist Church, Route 4. The public is invited.
The CD is especially precious to the society as it depicts each room of the “dear old house” several months before the house was hit by lightning and burned on June 30, 1999.
As each room is shown, it is described by one of the volunteers who worked on the house during the 13-year restoration project. Many of the volunteers are now deceased.
The Deacon Livermore House, home of Elijah Livermore, the founder of Livermore, was originally built in 1779 as a Cape-style home. As the deacon’s family grew, so did the house, and in 1793 it became a Federal-style home and survived over 200 years.
Following the showing, light refreshments will be served. Should weather be bad, the event will be postponed to a later date.
