It looks as though the Republicans were going to adopt the plan of serving beer with their rallies this year. At a recent rally where Wallace White was a speaker it was requested by the committee of arrangements that no beer be passed until Mr. White had left the hall. The “after meeting” is said to have been even more enthusiastic than the regular one. Commenting upon the booze rallies a Lewiston man says: “As long as both the Republicans and Democrats are serving beer at their rallies, neither ought to complain about the other. But in the past Republicans have made such a holler about booze at Democratic rallies that I didn’t suppose they would tolerate anything of the kind. I don’t know as they are much better than the Democrats after all.”

A computer-generated device that spits out up-to-the-minute weather data to help pilots land more safely has been installed at the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport, according to Airport Director Marshall MacKinen. “The pilot simply dials a radio frequency to get the date, time, temperature, wind speed and direction, ceiling, dewpoint and barometric pressure,” MacKinen said. These bits of information assist the pilot when making landing decisions, he said. “We don’t have a tower,” he added, so there is no air traffic controller feeding pilots the information they need.
