NEW VINEYARD — An unloaded tractor-trailer truck traveling south on Route 27 lost control coming around a corner and jackknifed on Wednesday morning, Maine State Police Trooper Jed Malcore said.

The truck’s cab went into a ditch and the trailer blocked both lanes of travel, he said.

The accident reported at 11:35 a.m. closed Route 27 about 90 minutes, he said.

Driver Lukasz Drozdowski, 29, of Illinois was not injured, Malcore said.

The fuel tanks on the Freightliner ruptured. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection was on scene because the tanks have to be emptied to be towed, he said.

Drozdowski was driving for DSV Express Inc. in Illinois.

Malcore was assisted at the scene by Trooper Bernard Campbell and New Vineyard Fire Department.
