STRONG — A New Portland teenager was injured Sunday morning when the vehicle he was driving went off Farmington Road, struck a mailbox and went into a ditch before striking a utility pole and snapping it in half.
The vehicle then rolled over, according to Franklin County Deputy Andrew Morgan’s report to Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr.
Riley Davenport, 16, was traveling north when he fell asleep at the wheel.
He received lacerations to his face and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital for evaluation, Morgan said.
The accident happened at approximately 5:54 a.m.
The mailbox the vehicle struck belong to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
