LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens met Feb. 1, and they were given a demonstration of pickleball.
Pickleball is played from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays at the Lewiston Armory, sponsored by the Lewiston Recreation Department. The fee is $2 for Lewiston/Auburn residents and $3 for nonresidents.
Members played a game of musical chairs to determine the Valentine winners. Monique Gendron and Rena Blanchette won and each was presented with a box of chocolates. February birthdays were acknowledged and everyone had cake and cookies.
The group will meet Monday, March 14, for a potluck luncheon. Members who wish to attend need to sign up in the office by March 7. Everyone is encouraged to wear green.
A matching game will be played, and those attending are asked to bring a baby picture and current picture of themselves by the March 7 deadline.
The April 4 meeting will have a speaker on indoor plants and gardening.
The following trips are being offered and are open to nonmembers:
June 26 to July 2: Niagara Falls and Toronto, including six nights and 10 meals. A $75 deposit is due upon signing.
Sept. 5 to 13: Northern California. The trip includes round trip airfare from Boston, with transportation to Boston. A $250 deposit is due by March 7.
Nov. 11 to 21: Branson, Mo. The trip includes 10 nights and 18 meals. A deposit of $75 is due upon signing.
Nov. 30 to Dec. 2: Christmas tour to the White Mountain Hotel and Resort. The trip includes two nights and five meals. A $50 deposit is due upon signing.
