NORWAY — Free six-week parenting workshops will be facilitated by Community Concepts in Norway and Rumford. Participants will receive a parent’s guide and workbook utilizing the Active Parenting curriculum.
Open to all parents and guardians of children ages 5 to 12, the course uses videos, activities and group discussions to cover a host of uncomfortable family-related topics, including discipline techniques, communication strategies with children, diffusing and handling problems, teaching reasonability and fostering independence, holding family meetings and coping with difficult topics such as drugs, violence and sex.
Workshops will take place at two locations:
Wednesdays, March 16, 23, 30 and April 6, 13 and 27, from 5 to 7 p.m., Guy E. Rowe School, Main Street, Norway, dinner and childcare for school-age children provided.
Thursdays, March 17, 24, 31 and April 7, 14 and 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, Rumford Public Library. Childcare will not be provided.
