RUMFORD — The Board of Selectmen will continue discussion Thursday, March 3, on whether to pursue exterior work on the Rumford Public Library.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Rumford Falls Auditorium.

Selectmen learned at a meeting Jan. 21 that the library building has gaps in the brick, rotted wooden gutters and window sills, and an outdated furnace.

Town Manager John Madigan said H.E. Callahan submitted a base bid of $154,000 for exterior repairs. Part of the contract is to investigate the nine-year-old roof to see what repairs are necessary.

The board will also discuss:

* A request to prohibit engine brake noise on Route 2 in Rumford Center;

* A request from the Maine Department of Transportation for permission to use parking spaces on River Street during the bridge painting project.
