Mexico Library free coloring event

MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library will host a free coloring event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 11. The community is invited to join in as the library offers coloring for all ages.

Supplies, including markers, crayons, colored pencils, gel pens, charcoal pencils, coloring pages, and paper will be provided.

This event is part of a new series the library is sponsoring called “Create.” It seeks to involve the community in various projects, presenting opportunities to create, relax, imagine and interact.

The next coloring event will be held Thursday, April 21. 

AARP chapter to hear talk on Reiki

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will meet at noon Monday, March 14, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street. Lunch will be served at noon. The cost is $7, and reservations are required by Friday, March 11.

The business meeting will begin at 12:45. The book/puzzle swap will continue as well as the collection for the local food pantry.

A presentation on Reiki and will be given by Karen Vasil-Busch.

Chandler to discuss trip to Palestine

BRYANT POND —  Jim Chandler will talk about his recent trip to Palestine at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at the Whitman Memorial Library.
 
In 2007 Chandler met a fellow teacher at the World Forestry Institute and has kept in touch with teachers and students in Palestine. 
 
The free program is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Benefit supper at Legion post

RUMFORD — A benefit turkey supper will be held Saturday, March 12, at the American Legion Hall, 184 Congress St.

There will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle. Cost for adults will be $7, $5 for children and free for kids younger than 5.

Proceeds will benefit the family of Sally (Warren) Campbell, who recently died of cancer.

Swingin’ Bears dance for St. Patrick’s

PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Dance Club will celebrate St. Patrick’s day from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, 100 Pine St. 

Walt Bull and Gracie Bull will call mainstream and plus, and Carol Arsenault will be cuer.

There will be refreshments, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. 

Admission is $7 per person. Non-dancers are welcome at no charge.

Honey Bee Club to meet

PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.

The speaker will be commercial bee keeper Tony Bachelder, and the topic will be feeding bees in the winter along with spring management. The event is open to the public.

Contradancing at the Grange

FARMINGTON — Saturday, March 12a contradance will be held at Farmington Grange, 124 Bridge St.

There will be no family dance this month. It will be a regular contradance with the Racket Factory playing and John McIntire calling from 8 to 10:30 p.m.

Cost will be $6 for adults, $5 for students and $15 a family maximum. All dances are taught, and beginners are welcome. No partner is necessary.
