McLaughlin Gardens plans Boston trip
BOSTON — McLaughlin Garden & Homestead will host a trip to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to see spring blooms and spectacular artwork Monday, April 11.
The tour will include the Venetian-inspired courtyard garden, the museum’s greenhouses, and a special discussion with the horticulturalist about the interaction between art and gardens in the museum.
The tour will include bus coach travel, snacks, and tour admission to the museum Participants must plan their own lunches by bringing a bag lunch or eating at the museum cafe or locally. There will be free time to explore the treasures of the museum. The cost of the trip is $70 for McLaughlin Garden members and $80 for nonmembers.

Camp awarded for program excellence
PORTLAND — The Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation has announced that its program, Camp Susan Curtis, won the Eleanor P. Eells Award for program excellence in Atlanta.
The award is presented annually through the American Camp Association to six nominees nationwide that “create exceptional programming and develop effective, creative responses to the needs of people and society through the camp experience.”
For the youth served at Camp Susan Curtis, those needs include bolstering educational attainment, promoting health and well being and supporting the development of life and workplace skills.
Buttons 4 Babes to meet
JAY — Buttons 4 Babes volunteers meet at Otis Federal Credit Union every second and fourth Tuesday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the community room on the first floor.
The Button Bee creates bracelets to raise funds for children in critical need and for the local homeless shelter. Materials are available and new volunteers are welcome.

Legion to host bean supper
MECHANIC FALLS — A baked bean and casserole supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Post 150, American Legion, 41 Elm St.
Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 12.
Williams House candy, bake sale
WAYNE — The Friends of the Cary Memorial Library in Wayne will hold their annual Easter Candy and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, March 19 and 26, at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road.
There will be handmade chocolates, homemade baked goods and a spring boutique table.
Jan Folk and her team will make chocolate bunnies, ducks, eggs, chocolate lollipops, chocolate covered cherries, an assortment of bars, turtles, peanut butter cups and more. The chocolates, a Wayne tradition for more than 25 years, sell quickly. Jan will also fill special orders by contacting 207-685-4390 before Sunday, March 13.
All proceeds benefit the Cary Memorial Library.

SMH offering infant CPR class
NORWAY — The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital is offering an infant CPR class from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, in the Harper Conference Center, Ripley Medical Office Building, 193 Main St. The classes are helpful to both new and experienced parents.
Learn to do CPR and choking rescue on an infant up to the age of 1 year. This is a hands-on experience with manikins where there will be an opportunity to practices.
Fee is $10 a person. Preregistration with payment is required.

FARMINGTON — Farmington Emblem Club No. 460 will host basket bingo Sunday, March 13, at the Farmington Elks Lodge.

Hebron woman wins quilt raffle
NORWAY — The winner of the Pine Needles Quilt raffle is Faye Smith of Hebron. She is in Florida for the winter and will pick up the quilt when she returns.
The proceeds of the raffle will help purchase supplies to make more quilts for charities.
