LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has announced registration is open for the Hospice House 5K & Remembrance Walk.
The events will take place on May 1 starting at the Franklin County courthouse on Main Street in Farmington, and on May 15 starting at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.
The volunteer planning committees have made changes and additions to this year’s events. Each location will have a Remembrance Garden. All participants are invited to create a memory board to honor their loved one and place it in the garden while at the event. There is no fee or fundraising minimum to participate.
The best team T-shirt award will be determined by online voting, which will be open for one week following each event. Awards will be presented for the best design in each location. Farmington has added a 1 mile kids’ fun run with area mascots including Mt. Blue Cougar, Franklin Savings Bank Benjamin Bear and Andy the Ambulance. Both locations will celebrate AHCH’s 50th anniversary by playing music from the 1960s for entertainment.
This year’s event will offer recognition opportunities for teams and individuals reaching specific fundraising levels. This includes team names on the 5K plaque, engraved walkway paver and a family bench. All recognition is located at the Hospice House. Awards will be presented to top runners in five-year age groups.
The Memory Wreath will continue at this year’s event. Each participant can tie a ribbon with the name of their loved one on the ribbon. The wreath will travel to both event locations. Following the final event in Auburn, the wreath will be displayed at the Hospice House.
