FARMINGTON — A Livermore Falls man was indicted Friday for breaking windows at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and rectory in Jay last fall.

The damage was estimated at more than $5,000, Jay Detective Michael Mejia said last year.

Khyle N. Whittemore, 23, was indicted on a felony charge of aggravated criminal mischief and a misdemeanor charge of violation of condition of release.

The penalty for a conviction on the charge is up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

In early September 2015, a rock was thrown through a large, circular, stained-glass window in the back of the church on Main Street. Parishioners referred to it as “the rose stained-glass window,” believed to have been installed in 1949.

About a week later, a brick was thrown through a back office window in the rectory. A rock was also thrown through a second window in the back of the church in September 2015.
