LEWISTON — Students from L’Ecole Française du Maine, The French School of Maine, will help celebrate Francophone week while performing their annual concert for this month’s La Rencontre at The Dolard and Priscilla Gendron Franco Center.

La Rencontre is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17.

The cost of the meal and the program is $10 per person. The doors open at 10 a.m. Those interested in attending may make reservations by calling the office at 207-783-1585. Email reservations may be sent to [email protected].

La Rencontre is not restricted to French speakers or those of Franco descent. Everyone is welcome to attend this monthly meal and event, space permitting. The traditional Irish meal includes corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots, Irish soda bread and blueberry cobbler with ice cream.

After the meal, the students, under the direction of Joelle Morris, will present their concert in the performance hall. Several raffle prizes will be drawn. “Louis Cyr,” a French-language film, will be shown after the concert in the same location. The film is a biopic of Louis Cyr, the strongest man in the world at the end of the 19th century.

The Franco Center is wheelchair accessible and located at 46 Cedar St.
