LIVERMORE FALLS — Karlene E. Ward, 72, a resident of Livermore Falls, died peacefully Sunday, March 20, at her home.
She was born April 5, 1943, in Milford, Conn., the daughter of Elton “Bucky” Gammon and Mrytle (Dow) Gammon. Karlene attended school in Auburn. On Oct. 18, 1975, in Turner, she married her husband of 40 years, Walter E. Ward Jr. She worked through the years as a nursing assistant at former Green Acres Nursing Home in Greene, Spencer Nursing Home and Goff Hill Nursing Home, both in Auburn.
Karlene enjoyed playing cards with friends, wintering in Florida, was an avid collector of rings, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Ward Jr. of Livermore Falls; four sons, Charles Bunker of Greene, Scott Ward of Livermore Falls, Jamie Ward of Benton, and Jason Ward of Jay; her daughter, Lisa Ward of Livermore Falls; brother, Ronald Spencer of Massachusetts; her twin sister, Christine Hilts of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Joshua and Cassidy Bunker, Amy, Ashley, Nicholas, Collin Raye, Kassia and Brayden Ward; and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Spencer; and an infant brother that died at birth.
