LEWISTON — The Public Theatre is now accepting applications for its 2016 professional theatre training program for youths ages 11 to 16.
The program runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from July 11-29.
Participation is through audition only. The first round of auditions is in early April by application only.
Professionals will teach classes in stage combat, movement, voice and speech, singing and text analysis during the morning sessions. Afternoon sessions will be used for master acting classes and rehearsals. The program will culminate in a public performance at the end of the final week.
The program will encourage young actors to tap into their potential, making the process of creation as important and exciting as the final show. Students will learn to think on their feet and work as an ensemble, building self-esteem, confidence, and acting skills.
Serious students seeking professional training are urged to apply. Scholarships are available for a limited number of students with financial need.
