ROXBURY — The Board of Selectmen voted Tuesday to prohibit smoking at all public beaches along Main Street and to add pipes and e-cigarettes to the list of products not allowed on municipal beaches.

The amendments to the 2010 tobacco policy are effective immediately.

The policy bans smoking in all town-owned or leased buildings and vehicles, and all vehicles used during work whenever other employees or another person is in the vehicle for work-related reasons. Smoking, chewing and spitting of tobacco can only occur outside at least 20 feet from any workplace entryway, vent, window or doorway.

Town Clerk Doreen Stinson said the amendments focused mainly on specific areas where smoking was not allowed.
