1926 – 2016

AUGUSTA — Helen May Bradbury Adams, 89, of Buckfield passed away on Wednesday, March 23, at Gray Birch in Augusta.

Helen was born in Buckfield on June 7, 1926, the daughter of Wallace E. Bradbury Sr. and Bessie Merrow Bradbury Warren. She graduated from Buckfield High School in 1943 and married Richard M. Adams on June 11, 1943. Her most important job was being a stay-at-home mom, but she was also a cook at Hartford-Sumner Elementary School. She was a member of the Buckfield Community Church, where she was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher and choir member for many years. She was a member of the Mountain View Chapter No. 197, Order of the Eastern Star, the John D. Long Post No. 58 American Legion Auxiliary, the Mountain Grange and was a 4-H Leader. She was also a member of the Buckfield Literary Club and the County, State and National Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Rick and Nonie Adams, Brian and Callie Adams and Bonnie Maguire; grandchildren, Sarah Griffith and Steve, Karen Chong and Wei Li, Andrea Toone and Matt, Angela Adams, Bridget Winslow and Aaron, Betsy Maguire and Josh Hall, and Jenn Adams; great-grandchildren, Steven, Joshua and Katie Griffith, Jackson, Mia, Brady and Kinsley Winslow, Ethan, Harrison and Morgan Toone, Libby Maguire, Abbie and Jillian Chong.

She was predeceased by her husband; her daughter, Kathy Adams; her son-in-law, Greg Maguire; and her brother, Wallace Jr.
