AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library lists its programs for teens during the month of April.
The Auburn Public Library and the Lewiston Public Library have partnered for the 5th Annual Teen Opportunities Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library. Teens ages 13 to 19 who are looking for an internship or volunteer opportunity or wondering if they should be taking classes or enrolling in college are encouraged to attend. There will be food and door prizes.

Teens! Snack Chat: 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays, April 4 and 25, in the Teen Space. Teens can meet in the Teen Space twice a month to enjoy a healthy after school snack and engage in some enlightening conversation about current events. This program is provided by support from Jim Pittman and is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
Tweens in the Teen Space: Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, April 6, 13 and 27, in the Teen Space. Tweens can meet in the Teen Space on the second floor on half-day Wednesdays. Crafts or board games are available or Tweens can stop by to simply hang out or to get a head start on homework. This program is just for Tweens in sixth grade.
Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can get animated over anime! Teens, ages 12 to 18, can drop in to talk about their favorite (or least favorite) manga, watch this week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing their own characters. This program was made possible by a generous gift of the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Snacks will be provided.
Teens! Friday @ the Movies presents “The DUFF”: 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 8, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Since April is National Humor Month, the library will show “The DUFF,” said to be one of the funniest teen movies since “Mean Girls.” Mae Whitman plays a high school senior who instigates a social pecking order revolution after finding out that she has been labeled the DUFF — Designated Ugly Fat Friend — by her prettier, more popular counterparts. Snacks will be provided. Since this movie is rated P- 13, teens must be 13 to 18 to attend.
Magical Morocco: 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, April 11, in the Androscoggin Community Room. This past fall, Cynthia Reedy spent four months in Morocco as a recipient of a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching. During her time, Reedy visited several schools, taught dozens of children to sing B-I-N-G-O, climbed the highest mountain in North Africa, rode a camel and visited many beautiful and magical places. Teens can leave chilly Maine behind and come to warm and wonderful Morocco for this educational, informative and interactive presentation. This program is for teens and adults.
Futures Lab: 6 p.m. to close, Monday, April 11 and Thursday, April 21, in the Computer Lab. Students, teens and adults alike who are working on their post-secondary aspirations are welcome in the Computer Lab on specified Monday evenings. Whether a student is just starting his/her college search, completing online applications or working on financial aid paperwork, there will be a college navigator and/or a representative from College for Maine Androscoggin on hand to answer any questions. In April, the focus will be on creating an FSA ID, which is a new requirement for the FAFSA.
Teens! Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, and Friday, April 29, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can stop by the Androscoggin Room on lower level for video games and snacks. The library has an XBox and Wii with games rated teen and younger. Just for teens ages 12 to 18, this program was made possible by a generous gift of the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.
Maine Job Corps: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Conference Room. Teens and new adults are welcome to join Jill Moody of the Maine Job Corps as he explains how the program works and who is eligible.
Teens! DIY Takeover — Blackout Poetry: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Teen Space. Teens can work on a new project from duct tape art to photography, create video games or make magnetic poetry each month. Since April is National Poetry Month, for the DIY project this month, teens will create blackout poetry. Samples on the library’s Pinterest page at www.pinterest.com/auburnpl/teens. The program is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
Safe Voices Drop-In Visit: 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Teen Space. Teens can hang out with Julia from Safe Voices. Each month, she will visit the Teen Space to chat about relationships and work on projects. This program may include a snack and is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
Teens! Earth Day Celebration: 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 22, in the Teen Space. Teens can celebrate Earth Day. They’ll talk about some current environmental issues, make homemade bird feeders and plant seeds. This program is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
Teen Life Skills — Teen Finance Tips: 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the Conference Room. The library’s four-month Teen Life Skills series concludes in April with Money Smart Week, April 24 to 30. Teens can join Matt Shaw from Community Credit Union for this informative workshop wherein teens will learn more about money management, different money instruments (check book, register, debit card, credit card), banking technology (mobile banking, mobile deposit capture, etc.) and student loan debt versus career choices. This program is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
DIY Teens! Media Club: 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, in the CREATE! Media Lab. If teens can imagine it, they can create it in the library’s media lab. Teens, ages 12 to 18, can join the library’s Media Club and make trailers, podcasts and more that the library will post on its website.
SAPARS Drop in Visit: 3-4 p.m. Thursday, April 28, in the Teen Space. Teens can visit with Molly from Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services. Each month, she will visit to discuss and create awareness of teen issues like healthy relationships, sexual assault, bullying, harassment, substance use/abuse and Internet safety. Just for teens, this event takes place in the Teen Space and may include snacks.
