1922 – 2016

LEWISTON — Adelaide “Blondie” J. Jordan, 93, formerly of West Auburn, passed away peacefully at Russell Park Manor in Lewiston on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 11, 1922, a daughter of the late Fred and Amy (Bradbury) Bates. She grew up in Auburn and attended local schools there.

In 1947 she married Frank S. Jordan in Augusta. Blondie spent most of her life as a homemaker taking care of her home and husband. During that time she was a member of the West Auburn School Historical Society. She enjoyed listening to the “Big Band” music of that era and also had a very fond love of animals, especially feeding the birds. One of her all-time favorite things to do was to enjoy lobster dinners by the seashore.

She is survived by her sister, Arleen Wyse of Virginia Beach, Va., two nephews, Richard Roakes of Norway and Donald Roakes of Bridgton, three nieces, Dorothy Smith of Oxford, Shirley Roakes of Lewiston and Kathy Martin of Virginia Beach, Va. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1981, a sister, Lucile Roakes and a nephew, John Wyse.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staffs of both Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and Russell Park A Wing Division for their devoted and compassionate care shown to Blondie in her final days.
