Viking Choir to meet
PARIS — The meeting of the 50th anniversary of the Viking Choir will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the High School Art Room.
All interested people are invited to attend.
Public supper in Paris
PARIS — A public supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Paris Fire Department on Western Avenue.
The menu will include roast pork, potatoes, veggies, macaroni and cheese, salads, bread and homemade desserts.
Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for ages 4 to 12, and free for kids 3 and younger.
Longaberger bingo support pets
NORWAY — Longaberger bingo will benefit Responsible Pet Care on Sunday, April 10, at the Norway Legion Hall on Main Street.
Doors open 11 a.m., and bingo starts 12:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for 16 games. There will also be regular bingo, coverall games, raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle and refreshments.

Rumford Seniors holding luncheons
RUMFORD — The Rumford Seniors will have two luncheons in April. Cost of the luncheons is $6 for members and $7 for non-members. All are welcome.
The first luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 11. Rick Ames will provide entertainment, and the menu will consist of American chop suey and dessert.
The second luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. on April 25. The meal will be a Texas hash and dessert.
The seniors play bingo at 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

Historical society resumes meetings
MADRID — The Madrid Historical Society will resume monthly meetings Monday, April 11, at the schoolhouse on the corner of Reeds Mill Road and School Street.
Meetings are held on the second Monday each month, April to December. Those attending gather at 5:30 p.m. for a potluck supper and a business meeting at 6 p.m.

Protection from ticks, mosquitoes
FARMINGTON — Information about personal protection from ticks and mosquitoes is the subject of a University of Maine Cooperative Extension presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the West Farmington Grange, 124 Bridge St.
Diseases transmitted by ticks and mosquitoes are an increasingly important concern for anyone spending time outdoors. This presentation provides information on the basic biology, life cycle and distribution of ticks and mosquitoes in Maine, and offers management and personal protection strategies for avoiding these potential health threats. Griffin Dill, coordinator of UMaine Extension’s Tick Identification Program, will lead the presentation.

SeniorsPlus fraud workshop offered
ANDOVER — SeniorsPlus has announced it will hold a workshop on Fraud and Scams with SeniorsPlus Oxford County Outreach staff person Valerie Cole at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Andover Town Hall.
The class will focus on how to identify fraud and scams and teach how recognize and avoid common scams. Participants will learn useful resources and receive their own fraud prevention guide.

Girl Scouts offering ‘Babysitting 101’
RUMFORD — Girl Scouts are offering a “Babysitting 101” training program for area girls in the Rumford, Mexico, Dixfield and Peru area. This training program is for girls who are interested in becoming babysitters in the future or to enhance existing babysitting skills.
The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Western Maine Foothills area. All girls in grades five through nine are welcome to participate. Cost is $6 per girl. Preregistration is necessary by Wednesday, April 13.
Topics include getting a baby-sitting business started; playtime ideas for children of all ages; understanding the likes and dislikes of children and troubleshooting and solutions to the most common problems a baby-sitter faces
