POLAND — Poland Regional High School student Erin Brewer of Poland has been selected to receive the 2016 Principal’s Award, Principal Cari Medd announced.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Erin is an extremely bright and well-rounded student,” Medd said. “She has demonstrated a dedication to her class and her school through her service in student government. She has challenged herself by taking advantage of our most rigorous academic offerings. And she has participated in both athletics and theater. She has left a positive mark in every corner of our school.”

Brewer, Medd and other award winners and their principals attended an honors luncheon in Bangor on April 2, which recognized these outstanding students with individual plaques and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, former Maine principals and executive directors of the association. An additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
