Spring poetry contest winners
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public Library and Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties have announced the winners of this spring’s poetry contest.
John Rosenwald served as judge.
Ages 16 years of age and younger: First place, Ashley Tobias; second place, Owen Knapp; and third place, Kristin Merrill.
Ages 17 to 25: First place, Lauren Stetson; second place, Tristan Huntoon; and third place, Bethany Berger.
Ages 25 and older: First place, Jeffra Hays; second place, Muriel Fish; and third place, Suzanne Loring.
The public is invited to a public reading of the winning poems at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Farmington Public Library. Refreshments will be served.
Farmington Library annual meeting
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public Library will hold its annual meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12.
The public is welcome to attend this community conversation to learn what’s happening at the library and to share thoughts and ideas for the future.

Rumford firefighters fundraising
RUMFORD — Rumford Professional Firefighters 1601 is conducting a fundraiser. Area businesses and residents are being contacted for sponsorships and ticket sales.
The firefighters will host “A Night of Laughs” comedy show at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Mountain Valley High School. The event is to raise funds for the local charities and endeavors it supports.
Beacon House seeking craft vendors
RUMFORD — The Beacon House Social Club and Learning Center will hold its annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Eagles hall.
There will be entertainment, a children’s table, a Chinese auction and a bake sale table. Lunch will be served.

CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Grange will host an indoor farmers’ and crafters’ market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, beginning April 16.

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met April 1 for a six-and-a-half table Howell movement.
Finishing first in flight A were Mike Newsome and Misha Tomic; second, Dick Allen and Peter Cummings; third, Peter Dickson and Les Buzzell; and fourth, Mike Quinn and Mike True.
Finishing first in flight B were Milt McKeen Jr. and Jim Krainin, also first in flight C; second, Cathy Sanderson and Barbara Vanderzanden, also second in flight C; third, Cynthia and Bill Clifford Jr.; and fourth, B.J. and Steve Cavicchi, also third in flight C.
Fourth in C were Carol Curran and Denny Raymond.
