1926 – 2016
LEWISTON — Theresa V. (Letendre) Canuel, 89, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, April 5, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1926, the daughter of the late Alfred and Rose Alma (Beaucage) Letendre.
Theresa lived in Lewiston her entire life, and was a devout Catholic, attending Holy Family Church for most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
One of her favorite things to do was to play cards with the girls. Family and friends would know that she took great joy in slapping her son Don’s hand. She enjoyed watching her children participating in sports. Theresa was known to be an avid bowler at L&A Lanes in Auburn.
She is survived by her husband, Omer Canuel; her children, Catherine and her husband, Mark Czarnecki, of Hermon, Raymond Jr. and his wife, Carol Bilodeau, of Auburn, Donald and his wife, Brenda Bilodeau, of Leeds, Jo-Ann and her husband, Ray Brown, of Lewiston, and Lorie Sutton of Maryland; and her sister, Beatrice Lecomte. She is also survived by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Marguerite Violette and Rite Caron; her brothers, Alfred Letendre and Benoit Letendre; and her first husband, Raymond “Bill” Bilodeau Sr.
